OCTOBER 1ST

AS A MANDATORY DAY OF REST

Dear customers and friends:

On September 30, 2024, the Decree amending Section VII of Article 74 of the Federal Labor Law was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation, establishing October 1st of every six years as a mandatory day of rest, when it corresponds to the transfer of the Federal Executive Power.

As a result of the reform, Article 74 of the Federal Labor Law will be harmonized with Article 83 of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States, which establishes that the President will take office on October 1st and will serve for a term of six years.

The aforementioned decree will become effective the day after its publication in the Official Gazette of the Federation, that is, on October 1st, 2024, when for the first time in the month of October, the transmission of the Federal Executive Power will take place.

In view of the above, we suggest that you consider amending the Federal Labor Law to update the content of your Collective Bargaining Agreement in the next full contract review, as well as to amend any other related document that may refer to December 1st of every six years as a mandatory day of rest.

Sincerely,

ILC Integral Legal Consulting, S.C.
